    • Northstar 500 scfm portable oxidizer
    • Military base operation
    • Detailed remediation reporting
Northstar conducted vapor extraction feasibility testing on two sites on the March Air Reserve Base as a subcontractor for Earth Tech, Inc. Equipment utilized included the self-contained Northstar 500 vapor extraction system, which operates a thermal oxidizer with a variable speed drive, high vacuum capacity, rotary-positive blower. The Northstar 500 operates exclusively on propane and electrical power is provided by a propane-powered, onboard generator. Feasibility testing at the site was conducted to assess the applied vacuum and vapor flow characteristics beneath the site. Soil vapor samples were collected in summa canisters and submitted to a laboratory for analysis.
Northstar compiled site data and calculated results to demonstrate hydrocarbon recovery rates, applied vacuum, and vapor flow for each site. Work was conducted under the direction of Earth Tech, Inc., AFCEE, and the EPA.
